Every monday evening I pass by the window front of the local
24 Hour Fitness Club where droves of people are jumping up and
down doing exercises in an Olympic size pool.
While they are exercising, they are taking in gobs of chlorine.
But they are not taking in the mineral form of chlorine found
in nature that is required by our metabolic enzyme systems.
The water they are jumping around in contains industrial chlorine
that reacts with naturally occurring substances in the water
to form carcinogens. These carcinogens then enter the largest
organ in our body--the skin.
Some reports say 100 times more chlorine enters the body through
the open pores of the skin by showering and bathing than by drinking
the same water.
The fitness folks I see on my drive home, however, are not
taking a quick shower; they are soaking for about an hour.
Not only that, each vapor-laden breath coats the delicate
membranes of their lungs with all the chlorine and other toxic
chemicals the municipal water department sees fit to send.
Regardless of your bathing style, research indicates incidence
of cancer is 44% higher among those using chlorinated water.
Back in WWI chlorine was used to gas opposition soldiers.
After the war, the manufacturers of this poison had to look for
new markets, and that is how it came to be used for swimming
pools and drinking water.
Instead of killing humans the new objective was to kill bugs.Unfortunately,
manufactured-for-profit chlorine remains harmful to humans.
Get a load of this:
In addition to the increased cancer risk, chlorine causes
arteriosclerosis and heart disease. Chlorine also causes thyroid
underactivity, lowered body temperatures, and lowered immune
system capability.
These bad things happen to us because this form of chlorine
tends to take the place of iodine when we are deficient in the
naturally occurring forms of iodine and chlorine.
The natural iodide form of iodine is required by our metabolic
enzymes in the thyroid gland for the manufacture of thyroid hormones.
Thyroid hormones participate in the control and regulation
of digestion, heart rate, body temperature, sweat gland activity,
nervous and reproductive system, general metabolism and body
weight.
Chlorine, in its biologically active chloride form, is required
by the metabolic enzymes in the cellular wall of our stomach
for the production of hydrochloric acid.
An enlightened medical doctor would be sure to ask you if
you have installed a filter that gets rid of the chlorine in
your bathing and drinking water.
